P-19: Effect of Three Sperm Preparation Methods on Sperm DNA Integrity and Oocyte Fertilization Rate

Background: Techniques of sperm preparation require centrifugation to separate spermatozoa from the seminal plasma. The centrifugation can induce damage to the spermatozoa and increase reactive oxygen species(ROS) productionspecially in leukospermic speciemens that are associated with impaired function and fertilizing capacity. However in ICSI, fertilization can occure with damage DNA sperm but...

مقایسه بیان پروتئین PLCζ و آسیب DNA اسپرم بین مردان بارور و نابارور

Introduction: Sperm-specific phospholipase C zeta (PLCζ) protein is expressed during spermatogenesis and plays a main role during oocyte activation. In this study, the expression of sperm PLCζ protein and DNA damage in fertile and infertile men was assessed. Methods: In this case-control study, semen samples were collected from 15 fertile and 10 infertile men candidated for intra-cyt...

P-12: Effect of Centrifugation on Levels of Stress Oxidative of Human Spermatozoa

Background: Cryopreservation has adverse effect on human spermatozoa via exposure to physical and chemical stress that may lead to alter in reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. During sperm preparation or cryopreservation, centrifugation as a physical stress may effect on sperm quality probably with stress oxidative production and membrane damage. Therefore the aim of this study was to evaluat...

Clinical significance of the low normal sperm morphology value as proposed in the fifth edition of the WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination and Processing of Human Semen.

The very low cut-off value for sperm morphology of 4% morphologically normal spermatozoa, as proposed in the new edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) manual on semen analysis, is in agreement with recently published values and reflects the trend of a decline in reported mean values for normal sperm morphology. The reduced value for morphologically normal spermatozoa over the years may...

Significance of sperm characteristics in the evaluation of male infertility.

OBJECTIVE To compare sperm characteristics among: patients undergoing infertility evaluation, patients with male factor infertility (MFI), healthy sperm donors, and men with proven fertility; to examine the overlap of sperm characteristics in all four of these groups; and to identify good discriminators of fertility versus infertility among sperm characteristics. DESIGN Retrospective study. ...
